About the Event
One step beyond Awesome Boundaries there are all sorts of Awesome Agreements . . . agreements that last, can be adjusted and work well for everyone.
Find out more about how to find and make Awesome Agreements in your sex positive relationships from Tanya Jarvik.
Are you in a Do-It-Yourself relationship? Have you and your partner(s) been making up the “rules” as you go along? Do you struggle with feeling controlled or constrained by your partner’s requests, or do you make requests that your partner feels are controlling? Are you hoping there’s a way to bring order to the chaotic universe of open relating…without sacrificing anyone’s autonomy?
In this class, you’ll learn how to decrease conflict and increase intimacy by making agreements that honor both personal autonomy and interpersonal connection. We will cover how to identify underlying needs, why agreements are more effective than rules, why things like “sunset” clauses can reduce resentment, and what you can do when an agreement is broken.
YOUR HOST Tanya Jarvik (https://radicallyrooted.com) lives in Portland, Oregon. She is a self described relationship radical who believes in a DIY (do it yourselves) approach to relationships. She knows that consciously created relationships can be extremely rewarding, and they can also be extremely challenging!
She offers this workshop to help people:
• Build stronger, more resilient connections
• Become less possessive and more cooperative, without sacrificing emotional well-being or autonomy
• Understand and take responsibility for your own emotions
• Effectively communicate your needs and wants
• Navigate the sometimes confusing discourse on alternative relationship choices, including open marriage, polyamory, swinging, ethical non-monogamy, relationship anarchy, and being “monogamish”
• Find creative solutions to incompatibilities between you and your partner(s)
• Embrace the inevitable changes that occur in all relationships, and make any necessary transitions with courage and grace
• Create sustainable relationship networks based on consent rather than coercion
CLASS SCHEDULE: We'll begin our time together with introductions. Tanya's presentation will include time for discussion.
COST Free for accessibility or contribute as you are able on this sliding scale: $5 $15 $25 per person.
